Healthy living. Healthy generations.
Ensuring a brighter future for our communities through awareness and education.
Since its establishment as the philanthropic arm of WellPoint, Inc., the foundation has granted more than $146 million to organizations that support our Healthy Generations program and our commitment to be America’s valued health partner.
The WellPoint Foundation has given a $5 million grant over three years to help fund Triple Play: A Game Plan for the Mind, Body and Soul. A program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Triple Play encourages kids to have fun while eating healthier foods, becoming more physically active and feeling better about themselves. It has inspired an impressive increase in daily exercise rates.
Gets Kids Moving
A two-year, $3.24 million grant to CATCH Healthy Habits from the WellPoint Foundation will continue to benefit two generations: adults over 50 and kids. This Oasis Institute program helps adults mentor children in grades K-5 to promote healthy lifelong habits and combat obesity. Youngsters and seniors alike improve their health while sharing high-energy games and nutrition lessons.

Prenatal care programs offered by the March of Dimes are supported by a two-year, $2 million grant from the WellPoint Foundation. The 14-state effort, including CenteringPregnancy programs and toolkits, reduces costly and dangerous preterm births, birth defects and infant mortality. Expectant mothers learn skills and develop support networks that help them have healthier deliveries.
In our 2012-2013 campaign, nearly 8,000 associates nationwide pledged more than $4.25 million to support nonprofits. With the WellPoint Foundation match, the total rose to more than $6.4 million. These funds help our communities by supporting six nationally recognized health and human services organizations: United Way, Community Health Charities, the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, Feeding America, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
In the last six years, thousands of associates, family and friends have participated in our annual Community Service Day, helping our nonprofit partners make a difference in people’s lives. Together we’ve helped the March of Dimes improve its prenatal support readiness, helped food banks get thousands of healthy meals into needy hands and led hundreds of children and seniors in fun fitness activities.
